A car crash in Ooltewah on Saturday was the second this weekend to claim a life.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said a car left the road in a curve in the 6900 block of Snow Hill Road about 12:30 p.m.

It happened near Virginia Selvidge's home on Snow Hill Road.

Selvidge said in a telephone interview she heard a heard a thump and ran outside, "screaming bloody murder."

She couldn't fully see the car, but she thought it looked like her grandson's BMW.

Police wouldn't tell her the name of the man who died, but they did tell her it was a Mercury and not a BMW.

Sheriff's office deputies were investigating late Saturday, and a name has not yet been released.

An earlier fatality occurred about 11:30 Friday, when a 16-year-old lost control in a curve in the 7500 block of Sims Road in Harrison.

The 1994 Honda left the road and struck a tree, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators are looking into whether speed and a wet road were factors in the crash.

The driver was later identified as Mason Lewis, a student at Ooltewah High School, WRCB-TV reported.

Pedestrian struck on Highway 58

A man was hit by a car on Highway 58 in front of the First Tennessee Bank and Chattanooga Safety Products store at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, dispatchers said.

Chattanooga dispatchers were unsure of the man's condition, but one dispatcher said he was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

His identity wasn't released Saturday night.
