Coastal Carolina football coach David Bennett, who wants his players to be more like dogs than cats, will lead his Chanticleers against Georgia's Bulldogs on Saturday.

It's not a case of a football coach at Coastal going postal.

Apparently, Coastal Carolina's David Bennett is like that all the time.

Bennett's bizarre news conference last Wednesday, when he talked about a neighbor's kitten getting trapped in his kitchen and how his players should be more like dogs than cats, had received more than half a million hits on YouTube as of Monday night. His ranting was followed by a 20-3 win over Division II member Catawba that improved the Chanticleers to 2-0, and nobody is about to predict what Bennett will say this week in advance of Saturday's trip to Georgia.

"It wasn't that far out of the norm for him, really, and I think that's what has Coach Bennett a little befuddled," Coastal Carolina associate athletic director Mike Cawood said Monday. "It's not much more than he says at every press conference. He may be super conscious of himself this week, but he'll get back on the wagon pretty quick, I'm sure."

Coastal Carolina, which is located near Myrtle Beach, S.C., and didn't become an independent university until 1993, started getting feedback about Bennett's antics last Thursday. It took off Friday morning when ESPN ran it hourly on "SportsCenter."

"You need to be more like a dog," Bennett pleaded to his players at one point. "We don't need a bunch of cats in here, looking in the mirror -- 'Do I look good? I've got my extra bands on.'

"Be a dog! We don't need no meows. We don't need no cats."

An early kickoff

Georgia's game next week at Ole Miss was announced Monday as a 12:21 p.m. kickoff on the SEC Network.

The Bulldogs have a 4-1 record on the SEC Network, which was introduced before the 2009 season, and have won four straight since a 45-19 loss at Tennessee in '09. Georgia's three appearances last season came against Louisiana-Lafayette, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, games the Bulldogs won by a combined score of 139-21.

Odds and ends

Georgia coach Mark Richt is 0-2 in his 11th season, but the slow start so deep into his career is not unique in program history. Vince Dooley started 0-2 in his 16th season (1979), and Wally Butts went 0-2 in his 19th and 20th seasons (1957-58) ... Bulldogs tailback Isaiah Crowell and Kentucky tailback Josh Clemons were named Monday as the SEC co-freshmen of the week. Crowell rushed 16 times for 118 yards against South Carolina, while Clemons had 14 carries for 126 yards against Central Michigan. ... Georgia worked out for just an hour Monday.
