HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Police say a young Middle Tennessee mother has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her newborn twin boys found in her home just north of Nashville.
Hendersonville police were called to the home of 25-year-old Lindsey Lowe on Wednesday to investigate the death of a newborn infant. A subsequent investigation revealed a second twin boy was also dead.
Police have not released the cause of death for the twins, whose bodies were taken to state medical examiner’s office in Nashville for autopsies. Police said Lowe is being held without bond and undergoing a medical evaluation.
Police on Thursday were trying to determine the identity of the babies’ father.

A woman's "right to choose?"
This story is heartbreaking. What's even more heartbreaking is if this woman had made this choice just a few months ago while still pregnant with these precious babies, it would not even be considered news worthy and she wouldn't be in jail or undergoing a medical evaluation.
Excuse me, whatever happen to innocent until proven guity? Your going to leave crapy negative comments over this little bit of a story!? Get the facts first! Holy Crap, no wonder this country is going to hell. Guess you guys would also be the ones to cast the first stones...no wait YOU DID!!
I think this story calls for heartbreaking sadness, not sarcasm or criticism - for not reaching out for help, finding someone who really wanted the babies, or getting the medical attention the mother may have needed. Sad that two young lives never will experience any thing in life but probably pain.
For those saying she should have just gotten an abortion, you're really looking at it the wrong way. This woman was probably suffering Postpartum Psychosis and severely needed help. More than likely, it's not that she didn't want the babies in the first place. She just became overwhelmed after she had them. Not that it's an excuse - but postpartum psychosis is a serious medical condition and it's something that should have been caught long before two innocent babies ended up dead. Where was her support system? Where was the father? Someone should have caught this.
I was not trying to imply that she should have had an abortion. I was just pointing out that if she had, there are laws that would have supported her. Apparently, waiting until the babies were born is considered a crime. It was just an observation about the legal system, not my opinion on her guilt or innocence. According to the second article written by this paper, the mother confessed to killing both babies just after birth. It also stated the pregnancy looked to be full term and that she hid the pregnancy from her family. I don't understand how it would be possible to hide a twin pregnancy. It is a very sad situation, and it should have been caught. It could have saved two innocent lives, and kept the mother from making such a tragic decision.
