Free United Way children's party in Warner Park Sunday

Friday, January 1, 1904

Project Ready for School is celebrating its seventh birthday with a free children's party in Warner Park on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Project Ready for School is a program of the United Way of Greater Chattanooga that offers a free book each month to children under age 5 in Hamilton and Marion counties.

Children who attend the party and get a learning check-up will receive a free family pass to the Creative Discovery Museum, according to a United Way news release.

Other freebies at the party will include snacks, book enrollments and early learning DVDs. There will be inflatables, storytelling by Jon Criss, zumba dancing led by the YMCA staff, face painting, arts and crafts and a visit from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

The purpose of the birthday party, which is being held as part of Imagination Library Week, is to boost free book enrollments and learning check-ups.

Families who can't attend the party, but wish to enroll their children in the book program may call the United Way at 752-0328 for an enrollment form or go online at www.LiveUnited Chattanooga.org

After United Way receives a completed enrollment form signed by a parent, the child's first book typically will be mailed within eight to 10 weeks.
