The case of a man accused of shooting and killing a 19-year-old amidst a brawl between a group of teenage girls has been bound over to the Hamilton County Grand Jury after the judge watched a cell phone video of the man’s slaying.
General Sessions Judge Clarence Shattuck upped accused killer Lathe Corbin’s charges from criminal homicide to first degree murder after reviewing footage recorded during the Sept. 12 incident.
The video depicts a large group of girls shouting and fighting on Southern Street in the Harriet Tubman housing development. In the midst of the brawl, a man identified as Corbin was recorded firing a handgun at Aundre Bush and running away as Bush falls to the pavement.
Bush died from gunshot wounds to his head and chest, according to Chattanooga Police.
Defense attorney Martin Levitt maintained that Corbin drew the gun in self defense after Bush had fired a gun in his direction.
