Chattanooga police have no clues in mystery shooting

A Delaware man who came to Chattanooga to deliver a car was shot in the chest Wednesday night.

Joel Deleon was supposed to meet Baleriano Morales near the corner of Chamberlain and Dodds avenues, according to an email from Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary, but he had ended up near East Third Street and North Holtzclaw Avenue. Deleon called Morales and told him to meet him on East Third Street.

When Morales arrived, he found Deleon had been shot in the left side of his chest, according to Weary.

Deleon was transported to a local hospital, and as of 2:45 p.m. today he was in fair condition at Erlanger hospital.

Weary said Chattanooga police do not know why, where or by whom the man was shot.

Why don't we get a time of shooting, where the car came from (private lot or person to person) and what kind of car was it? And isn't their an officer at the Mapco on 3rd and Holtzclaw 24/7? There is one if not 2 or 3 every time I'm there getting chicken! (and that's at various hours coming to and fro the barracks).

Ah-h-hm How about the guy who found him? Any clues as to whether or not Morales was alone in the car? You know, cigarette butts with lipstick, wet panties in the glove box, bloody hand prints on the passenger door handle? Maybe a drug run down here and the word was out? Ex-wife/girlfriend? Wife's/Girlfriend's lover? Jealous husband? Jealous boyfriend?

Are they even working the case?

C'mon, Staff, you can surely give us that much. [Yeah, I know -- Don't call you Shirley, right?]
