Chattanooga Fire Training Chief suspended for porn on city computers

A Chattanooga Fire Department training chief will be suspended for 10 days without pay after he reportedly viewed and sent pornographic material on the city’s computer system, according to a released statement.

An internal investigation was opened up on Training Chief Mack Moore after a woman came forward on July 23, stating she intended to file a complaint of sexual battery, said fire department spokesman Bruce Garner.

Chattanooga Police Department investigators looked into the complaint because of Moore’s high rank and determined the complaint was not sustained, Garner said. In the course of the investigation, however, they learned about the computer violation.

Moore will take the suspension in the next 30 days and attend mandatory counseling through the city’s Employee Assistance Program, Garner said.

Moore has been with the Chattanooga Fire Department for nearly 24 years.

Ten days suspension eh? At my place of employment such an offense was grounds for termination, but it wasn't a govt job.

I am so disappointed to know that our leaders do not have any morals. We have disgraced our Country, State, & City. The LORD has been taken out of everything and satan has moved in, and we are allowing it to happen. This is just a small example of where we are going as a Nation.

Moore has a long history of sexual misconduct and harassment as a government employee. Throw in a pornography charge and all he gets is a slap on the wrist? I can't imagine why the people of Chattanooga put up with this and why taxpayers support any administration that sits by and does nothing about it. This is a public service position folks. Don't we have a responsibility to ensure justice is served?

The turnout for the mayoral election of 2009 was 18%. The citizens of Chattanooga don't care.

Most Fire Departments hold management to a higher standard. A 10 suspension is a joke, it would be better to reduce in rank, 30-suspension & placed on probation for one year.

Then they'd have to fire most every firefighter. Before fire stations became co-ed it was well known and acceptable that firefighters watched a lot of skin-flicks during down time. Now, they do on their computers. But only an idiot would use a computer at work for this or other personal use. I warned employees over and over against sending emails and pulling up questionable sites at work. Everything goes into a permanent data base that can be retrieved at anytime and viewed by management. Hitting the delete button doesn't doesn't delete anything. Once you hit enter whatever you said, wherever you went in cyberspace is permanent. One employee once sent emails to another employee about having contracted an STD. Anything of a personal or private nature should never be accessed or talked about on a computer where you work. Some things are just common sense.

Macropetal seems levelheaded, but the rest of you may be overreacting a bit. We don't even know the nature of what he viewed and sent. Our culture is schizophrenic about sex. Yes, he made a mistake, but who's surprised that a normal American male enjoys looking? Who does that hurt? In Europe, churches and government buildings commonly feature images of unclothed men and women, yet their rate of teenaged pregnancy, sex crimes, etc., is lower than ours. Dixielou, the great Old Testament hero David enjoyed looking at Bathseeba so much, he hd her husband killed so he could have her. God still saw fit to use him as a great leader. Chief Moore did much less. Give the guy a break, and worry about our real problems.

Mac "Porno" Moore is lucky, he works for the city. He would have been fired in the private sector. No questions asked but then again, he might be watching porn with his boss.
