Man shot in apartment complex in Athens, Tenn.

A man was shot in the back Tuesday night in an apartment complex in Athens, Tenn.

Kendall Mooney was rushed by ambulance to the Athens Regional Medical Center, where he is now in stable condition, Athens police said.

Mooney was at the Clem Jones Heights apartments Tuesday when two men, carrying pistols, told him to empty his pockets. He did and one of the men pistol-whipped him in the face, police said.

Mooney tried to run away and the two men fired several shots at him. One shot hit Mooney in the back.

Police are still looking for the two men, described as black men in their 20s. One man is about 5 foot 7 and weighs 170 pounds, and the other is about 6 foot 3 and 170 pounds, police said.
