Wesleyan pulls out 3-2 win in overtime

Down two goals at halftime Tuesday at Georgetown (Ky.) College, the Tennessee Wesleyan men's soccer team got even with goals by Martyn Freestone and Billy Sparks and won 3-2 in overtime on a one-on-one shot by John Carrier from a Pedra Alba pass.

Daniel Cardona assisted Freestone's score 15 minutes into the second half, and Sparks netted a penalty kick 17 minutes later for the Bulldogs (7-2).

* Covenant 4, Tennessee Temple 0: At Covenant, a Scots team that has been having trouble scoring got two goals in each half against the Crusaders (1-8). Tyler Morrison scored early in each half from passes by Chris Pifer and then Johnny Frame, and Hunter Harrison added a penalty kick and Joel Friesen a late lob over the keeper. Covenant (2-4-2) outshot Temple 32-3.

* Cumberland (w) 4, Bryan 0: At Lebanon, Tenn., four Lady Bulldogs scored goals, Hel Dimantas Farias adding an assist to hers, in dropping the Lady Lions to 3-6-1. Bryan's Stephanie Gagnon had nine saves.

Lady Scots 10-4

Erica Adams had 12 kills and was in on 12 blocks, three of them solos, as the Covenant College volleyball team improved to 10-4 with a 17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 win Tuesday against visiting Cumberland University.

Emily Stewart added 10 kills and 11 digs, Kristin Dahlstrand had 31 assists and Estes Carlson had 26 digs for the Lady Scots.

* At Dayton, Bryan improved to 8-11, 6-1 in the AAC, with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-10 win over Tennessee Wesleyan (2-13, 0-8). Chelsea Breaden had 11 kills and Sarah Thacker had 20 assists for Bryan. Rebekah Bolis had 10 digs for TWC.

* At Tennessee Temple, the Lady Crusaders (7-12) lost 25-19, 25-10, 25-19 to Reinhardt (6-10) despite five kills and four blocks by Rachel Binkley and 11 assists by Natasha Ferreti.
