Traffic on Lee Highway is being diverted and some people are still without power after a tractor-trailer hit a power pole Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Lee Highway and Shallowford Road.
An EPB spokeswoman said nearly 3,000 customers lost power but restoration is under way.
EPB spokeswoman said that the accident happened just after 5 p.m.
Chattanooga police said that Lee Highway would be closed to traffic until the downed lines can be cleared from the road.
No information was immediately available on the cause of the accident or the truck driver's condition.
