2 Chattanooga officers hurt in pursuit crash

Two Chattanooga police officers were treated for minor injuries Friday night after their cruisers collided while they both were chasing a speeding car.

According to a news release, Officer Casey Cleveland was southbound on Hixson Pike at 11:34 p.m. in a 45 mph zone when he clocked a northbound vehicle at 67 mph.

Cleveland was making a U turn to give chase when Officer Almir Dizdarevic sped by going north, already in pursuit. Cleveland’s car hit Dizdarevic’s on the driver’s side. It tore through a yard and struck a house at 5442 Hixson Pike.

Both officers were taken to Northpark Hospital, where they were treated and released.

There was no damage observed to the house, according to the release, and no word on what happened to the speeding vehicle.
