Chattanooga home invasion suspect sought

A Mount Vernon Avenue resident on Friday told Chattanooga police someone broke into his home, tied him up and burglarized the place.

According to a news release, Casey Smith told police someone knocked at his door that morning. When he answered, the man showed a gun and forced him back into the house. The assailant tied Smith up with packaging tape and was searching the house when Smith managed to get loose and escape.

Smith said the man was black, aged 25 to 30, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds with short, curly hair, a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a big green jacket.

The suspect left in an early 1990s silver Buick or Oldsmobile, the release stated.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333.
