A high-speed chase that began about 3 a.m. Saturday in Hamilton County ended when Georgia State Troopers forced the suspect into a median barrier and the driver shot himself, reported Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright.

Officers from several agencies pursued the suspect at speeds up to 120 mph until the chase ended in Bartow County, Ga., sources said.

The Associated Press reported the man, whose identity was not released Saturday night, was suspected of fatally shooting his wife in Fort Campbell, Ky. The AP said Army officials had responded to a report of a domestic dispute at the couple's on-post housing when they found the wife's body.

A Chattanooga police spokesman said the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff's Office were in on the chase, but neither agency had any information Saturday.

The suspect was listed in critical condition Saturday night, the AP reported.
