• Name: Bi-Lo renovation
• Location: 3600 Hixson Pike
• Status: The project, which is about 20 percent complete, will include a complete revamp of the interior and exterior decor. Workers have patched and dry-walled the walls and removed signage. The next step is painting interior walls. "To avoid impacting customers, all the work is done at non-peak hours and when the store is closed," said project manager Tim Rowlett. While this makes planning more important and obtaining materials more difficult, it keeps the store from being forced to close during the renovation, he said.
• Price: $385,000
• Features: The store will appear nearly new on a visual level. The cases that hold food will appear more modern, and restrooms will appear more inviting, said Rowlett. The exterior of the grocery store also will receive a new coat of paint, and the store will receive new signs, including the monument sign at the road. Workers also will install new deli cases, as well as beverage cases that hold alcohol and other products. The renovation includes new restrooms, which will include new tile and toilet partitions, and new tile throughout the grocery store. Workers will have to move some cases and shelves to tile under them. The total effect will be a more modern and clean Bi-Lo.
