Will women pick the president?

Many of us are too young to remember when women couldn't vote in our United States elections.

Women could not vote until 1920, when the 19th Amendment of our Constitution was ratified.

Now, women can not only vote but may well be instrumental in picking our next president.

What issues will appeal to most women?

Democrat President Barack Obama and Republican hopeful Mitt Romney, the apparent 2012 presidential nominees, surely are thinking about the women's vote.

Each candidate surely will be looking for what will appeal to most wives, mothers, and daughters.

What do you think those issues will be?

Neither all men nor all women will vote alike. But some issues tend to motivate men more and some issues motivate women more.

A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found that if the presidential election were held today, President Obama would get about 51 percent of the votes with Romney attracting 44 percent.

President Obama surely is encouraged by the recent polls.

But the women may ultimately decide.

Many of us? That's an understatement.

Try the vast majority of us. You'd have to be well into your Nineties to have a chance to remember, and over 100 to have a good recollection.

Swift boat billionaires....keep your money in your fat wallet. Most of these women are not the gullible who will buy the bull commercials that pander to the ignorant uninformed.

Women are the caregivers in the family, not only for their children but most of the time for the elderly family members. Women rely on the safety net programs more than men, so cuts to Medicaid, school lunch programs, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, public transportation and Medicare, hurt women most.

The other problem Republicans have with women is intrusion into the most private matters: family planning. Women are confused why a political party which prides itself for no government interference for polluters and billionaires are so involved in gynecological matters. Is this the reason these Congressmen were elected? No wonder they are sinking. Obama is up 20 points with women. This is the same number as last month so it isn't a fluke.

Women must be stupid if they are supporting Obama. The democrats are treating women like they are immature and unsophisticated. Pandering to them by false praise and free stuff just shows how lowly the democrats regard women.

The way the democrats approach women is about the same as explorers used to treat natives. They give them bobbles and cheap jewelry to get what they want. Why don't you liberal women grow up?

Women will decide the election if the Democrats can be successful at making women's issues a major part of the campaign. The issues of women's health, contraception, Plan Parenthood funding, and perhaps most notably some really intrusive procedures that have been passed by Republican state legislatures are powerful tools the Democrats will use to form this into a wedge issue. And despite all the clamoring by the Right over the Hillary Rosen comment, that will pale in comparison to these other things.

The more women's issues are discussed the less the economy will be discussed, and that highly favors Obama and the Dems, not necessarily because the President hasn't done a decent job on the economy, but rather economic growth, jobs and business development are Romney's strong suite. If he can't play his strong suite to the fullest, he can't win.

Either you are not paying attention, are an idiot, or don't really care about women. I am going to go with all three here. I know exactly who is attacking my rights and aint the democrats. It is the Republicons and people like you that do not have a clue. I bet you are single too.

Hey Timbo, do you know how to track a web site? Do you know how to follow the money? Do you know how to trace a story to it's origins? didn't think so! LOL It shows.

Winston Churchill: "Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth, socialism is the equal distribution of poverty". Liberals hate rich people so they like the idea of socialism. But I do know this, I have NEVER been hired for a job by a poor person in my life. I like rich people...the more rich people there are, the better chance I have of better pay and opportunity. The liberals just see it as "their rich and i'm not and it's not fair". They also think that if someone earns $1,000,000, someone loses $1,000,000. These people are complete morons who have no business controlling our country.

By the way sandyonsignal, just what has FOX news lied about? Can we get some specifics on that? Seems to me like NBC has the market cornered on the doctoring of tapes and lying thing.

If I remember correctly only the feds can legally print money, so yes if someone earns a million someone loses a million. If that million doesn't come from a millionaire, then it was moved from the middle class/poor to the rich, which what's been happening with the Bush tax cuts. Wealth is not created...just transferred.

Good point EaTn. They keep calling it redistribution, without even realizing it was taken in the first place.

This election will be just like every other election of the past. It is going to be decided by people that are smart enough not to be loyal to one side or the other. The party loyalist will vote for who ever wins the nomination no matter who they are or what they stand for. It will once again be those people that are considered independents who can get past the 2 party system BS that will as always decide the election men or women.

Justonewoman.... The problem with you and most like you, you think we have to agree or "care" about everything that bothers you. Well, guess what, your right, I don't give a damn about what "women" think they should get free from the rest of us.

This constant complaining and demonizing of men for not agreeing with your weird version of politics is getting old. Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama better watch out for the men vote. It is just as large as the women s vote except we can't be changed by empty promises and false praise.

The women's vote is just like the black vote, the democrats will court you and tell you what you want to hear and they will do whatever they want.

By the way, if being stupid is the opposite of you, then I guess I'm ok with that.

Garble? Anyone who is illogical as you would think that logic was garble.

I repeat, why don't you grow up?

Hey timbooooooo. LOL

Timbo says....."The women's vote is just like the black vote"

. Very telling. I must have hit a nerve on the single part. Good, because any of you men thinking like Timbo will be VERY hard pressed to hang on to a women. We are smarter, wiser, and willing to call you out. We have learned to hit back and we will not be allowing you to act like spoiled brats any longer.

Timbo, no one said anything about anything being free, except you. I don't want anything from you, Nada, nothing, zip, zero. I doubt any woman does.

You really think that the democrats woo us? How silly. I am an independent, you know, one of those voters that really does decide the election like lovetheusaorleave said.

Justonewoman....Free birth control? Free breast cancer screening? Nothing free?

Real women like my daughter and wife who have gotten where they are without the governments help actually do want a real man. You wouldn't know a real man if they bit you. By the way, you or your femi-nazi buddies don't define what a man is, we do. I doubt you could find a real man.

I never said they "woo" you. I think that they manipulate you. Wooing would denote some decision on your part. You all are too wishy-washy to make any real decisions.

Not only that, you have such low self-esteem that your always bragging, "I am woman hear me roar" type stuff. Your comment, "We are smarter, wiser, and willing to call you out. We have learned to hit back and we will not be allowing you to act like spoiled brats any longer." (I thought hitting was wrong)

Well from one "spoiled brat" I think that comment was arrogant self aggrandizement. I think some man has treated you wrong and you are lashing out. Anyone that has to brag about how great they are all the time is full of self loathing.

So vote for that dumb ass Obama and fool yourself about being an "independent." There is no one on this earth that could independently come to the decision that an imbecile like Obama has don a good job. You are just another democrat.

If you "decide" this election then I guess I need to buy some land in Belize. They speak English there.

timbo, if you could say anything without resorting to name calling, unfounded accusations, blanket generalizing, and gender essentialism, you might be worth listening too. Your childish behavior makes you every bit as pathetic as the strawpeople against which you are arguing.

AlmostAmanda.... Can't take critisism can you. Liberal women have been spoiled because most men are afraid to nail you for what you really are.

Straw people? Watch daytime television with their constant man bashing and tell me again. Watch every commercial that always shows the woman as smart and the dumb ass white husband that can't even figure out which laundry detergent to use. (Even though he invented it.)

What you and the rest of liberal women show time after time that you are incapable of abstract thought and self analysis. Just like's never your fault.
