One person has been killed in a morning car crash on South Seminole Drive.

A Lincoln Town car struck a large tree head on in the 900 block of the street around 9:30 a.m., East Ridge Police Erik Hopkins said today.

Firefighters used the jaws-of-life to remove the driver’s door and free the driver, Hopkins said. But the driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

East Ridge Traffic Investigators are currently determining the cause of the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor, though the body was transported to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, said Hopkins.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification, police said.
