Nashville entertainer Buddy Greene will be the guest artist for Saturday's season-ending concert by Southern Stars Symphonic Brass in Crossville, Tenn.

Themed "Brassamataz," the concert will feature the 30-piece instrumental ensemble performing big-band hits of the swing era. They'll be under the baton of Dr. Steven Sudduth, assistant conductor.

The Southern Stars will perform medleys of Count Basie and Glenn Miller, as well as the Gene Krupa and Benny Goodman hit "Sing, Sing, Sing," Dave Brubeck's "Blue Rondo a la Turk" and Weather Report's "Birdland."

Greene, a virtuoso harmonica player, guitarist and vocalist, will perform "Georgia on My Mind" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" with the SSSB. Then he and sideman Jeff Taylor will offer a separate 30-minute set that demonstrates their skills in gospel, bluegrass, Irish/Celtic and classical music.

Organizers note that the evening concert is a departure for the SSSB. The new time "should minimize conflicts with springtime golf and gardening," said the band's website.
