Hadyn Bailey, a three-year starter in baseball at Soddy-Daisy, has signed scholarship papers with Cleveland State.
"He has done a tremendous job for us," Trojans coach Jared Hensley said. "Every time he steps on the field he does so with the idea of competing. He will challenge [opponents] regardless of who he's facing."
Bailey has a 6-1 pitching record this year and a 14-2 career record for Soddy-Daisy.
Tucker gets 100th win
Ringgold defeated Cedartown 15-0 in a Region 7-AAA baseball game Thursday, giving Tigers coach Brent Tucker his 100th coaching victory at the school.
Slade Dale provided an offensive spark for the Tigers, who had a 12-run first inning. Dale hit for the cycle and batted in three runs.
Winning pitcher Corey Kafka threw a three-hitter in the four-inning game and had seven strikeouts. Ringgold improved to 23-4 overall and 20-2 in the region.
Turner to Red Bank
Shane Turner, former head of the Soddy-Daisy wrestling kids' club program and most recently an assistant at Baylor, has been hired as a history teacher at Red Bank. Turner will take over the assistant wrestling coach's role handled by Dickie Brown.
Red Bank's head wrestling coach is Ben Reichel.
