One of the oldest homes on Lookout Mountain is getting a new owner. The Cragsmere Manor in Mentone, Ala., which dates back to the 1860s, was sold at an auction this week for $742,500.

The mountaintop homestead, which includes both a six-bedroom and a separate five-bedroom home, attracted nine bidders during an absolute auction conducted at the home Tuesday by The National Auction Group. The group did not identify the buyer.

"The Country Gourmet" restaurant operated at the manor for many years before the eatery closed in 2008. Fairhope, Ala., businessman Joe Johnson restored the houses after buying the property three years ago.
