Chattanooga voters have overwhelmingly approved creating an independent city auditor position.
With 85 percent of precincts reporting, 73 percent of voters were in favor of creating the position while 27 percent were against.
With the approval, City Auditor Stan Sewell will become the new independent auditor with the public favoring the new office.
Sewell did not return repeated calls tonight.
