Woman accused of pulling gun
A Murfreesboro, Tenn., woman remained in the Hamilton County Jail on aggravated assault charges Friday after she was accused of pulling a gun on her husband's ex-wife inside a bank, records show.
Chattanooga police responded to a robbery call at Capital Mark Bank & Trust, 801 Broad St., just before 1 p.m. Thursday, according to an affidavit of complaint. Zoya Zakwan, 42, asked if the ex-wife, who worked at the bank, was there and then pulled a handgun, the affidavit said.
The ex-wife was in the bank's offices. When she saw Zakwan, she closed and locked the offices' door, keeping Zakwan inside the lobby, according to the affidavit.
Zakwan pointed the gun at the glass but after it failed to fire, she fled, the report said. She was found by a bike patrol officer walking north in the 800 block of Broad Street. Police found the handgun on the sidewalk nearby.
Zakwan was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. She was held on a $102,000 bond pending an Aug. 23 appearance before General Sessions Court Judge Ronald Durby.
3 youths held after robberies
Three juveniles are in custody after a string of armed robberies that took place between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Friday, Chattanooga police say.
The three boys were picked up in the 1600 block of Arlington Avenue, said police spokesman Officer Nathan Hartwig.
The three allegedly shot at one victim, who was uninjured, and physically assaulted another victim who had minor injuries, Hartwig said.
All the victims were alone, in or near a parking lot or walking in a residential neighborhood, he said.
The robberies occurred:
• At 5:17 a.m. outside Memorial Hospital at 2525 DeSales Ave. The victim was a 60-year-old man.
• At 6:37 a.m. in the Bi-Lo Parking Lot at 6951 Lee Highway. The victim was a 41-year-old woman.
• At 6:57 a.m. in the 400 block of North Howell Avenue. The victim was a 43-year-old woman.
• At 7:01 a.m. in the 500 block of Arlington Avenue. The victim was a 49-year-old man.
• At 7:11 a.m. in the 700 block of Arlington Avenue. The victim was a 64-year-old man.

DUI checkpoint slated Aug. 14
Tennessee Highway Patrol has set a DUI checkpoint in Hamilton County for Aug. 14.
The checkpoint is contingent upon manpower and conditions.
