Law enforcement officers attend crisis intervention training

Law enforcement officers who work closely with youth attended a two-day training session on crisis intervention to help them identify and assist children who may be struggling with cognitive, mental health, or serious emotional disturbances.

Nineteen school resource officers from Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, two officers from Chattanooga Police Department, two officers from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Police Department and two officers from Signal Mountain Police Department attended the training, according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

Experts with the following organizations volunteered their time to assist in training: Parkridge Valley Hospital, Youth Villages, Cadas, Suicide Prevention Network, Skyridge Medical Center, Volunteer Behavioral Health, Fortwood, Hamilton County District Attorney's Office, Chattanooga Autism Center, Johnson Mental Health, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and the Chattanooga Police Department.
