Police in Dalton, Ga., are asking the public to help them identify two vehicles that may have contributed to a crash that sent three people to a hospital this morning.
The crash occurred near the intersection of the north bypass and Veterans' Drive at about 8:13 a.m., according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.
The driver of a Chrysler New Yorker, Milford Farr of Chatsworth, Ga., told officers he was headed south on the bypass in the inside lane passing through the intersection when a blue Chevrolet pickup truck traveling in the outside lane swerved into his lane, the release stated.
Police said that, to avoid striking the truck, Farr swerved left across the double yellow line into a lane occupied by a Honda Accord driven by Josephine Gonzalez of Dalton. Farr hit the Honda driven by Gonzalez head on, police said.
A passenger in the vehicle driven by Farr told officers that a green car pulled off Veterans' Drive into the path of the pickup, causing the truck driver of the truck to swerve into the left-hand lane. The passenger said Farr swerved left to avoid the truck and hit the Honda head on.
Gonzalez told officers she was headed north on the bypass and had just entered the left-turn lane to head south on Veterans' Drive when Farr's vehicle came into her lane and hit her.
Farr, the passenger in his car and Gonzalez were taken to Hamilton Medical Center with injuries, according to police. Two passengers in Gonzalez' car were not injured in the crash.
Police investigators need help indentifying the blue truck and the green passenger car that may have contributed to the crash.
