Woman shot in argument over $5 loan in South Memphis

By Scott Carroll

An argument between two women in South Memphis over a $5 loan ended with one being shot and the other charged with attempted murder.

Police reported that on Tuesday, the women were arguing about the loan in the 1300 block of Michigan off South Parkway East when they began to fight. The losing party in the fight left and returned with her armed boyfriend, who fired six shots at the other woman, striking her twice.

She was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis in critical condition, and has since been upgraded to non-critical condition. Her two sisters and their infant children were present during the shooting, according to a police affidavit, but were not injured.

Witnesses to the shooting later identified the gunman and his girlfriend in a police photo lineup.

Khadijah Wilson, 18, was arrested and charged with criminal attempted first-degree murder. Her bond was set at $150,000.

Hey boyfriend has not been arrested in the incident, according Shelby County Jail booking records.
