Sonic on Ringgold Road robbed, East Ridge police say

The Sonic on Ringgold Road was robbed about midnight Friday and police are searching for the suspects.

Responding to a call at the Sonic at 4348 Ringgold Road, East Ridge police officers were told that two males entered the business with one carrying a handgun, said police spokesman Officer Erik Hopkins. The manager and the armed robber got into a fight and the gun went off, hitting a piece of kitchen equipment, Hopkins said.

The suspect ordered the employees onto the ground, then emptied the cash registers and left by driving north on Moore Road in a blue vehicle, he said.

The suspects were described as black males, one about 5 foot 10 and 260 pounds, the other about 5 foot 6 and 160 pounds, Hopkins said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the East Ridge Police Department at 423-867-3718. A confidential tip line is also available at 423-867-0016.
