Georgia Department of Resources searching for overboard boater on Lake Lanier

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Georgia authorities are searching for an Atlanta man missing who went missing after he jumped from a sailboat into the waters of Lake Lanier.

WSB-TV reports 44-year-old Jeffrey Nause jumped overboard and plunged into the lake early Saturday, about 30 minutes after midnight.

Georgia Department of Resources Sgt. Mike Burgamy says Nause was on the sailboat with a woman and another couple before he vanished beneath the water. He says Nause may have been drinking.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the DNR in its search and investigation.
