Rants

WHY DO TAXPAYERS have to pay extra for children's breakfast and lunch at school when tax money funds food stamps and all other welfare?

DO YOU KNOW that $1 trillion is equal to one thousand billion dollars? Does Obama? U.S. debt increases this amount every year!

FOUR HUNDRED million dollars will have been spent on this presidential campaign. We have got to stop this madness.

GARDENHIRE VS. VITAL: It was like two bald men fighting over a comb.

MARK CLAYTON -- Finally a Democrat I can feel comfortable voting for.

HONOR THE VICTIMS in Aurora by voting against any congressman who will not support restricting firearms' magazine capacity. Shotguns and rifles should be three rounds.

FOUNDED ON THE principle of freedom of, or from, religion, how can anyone think that nonbelievers should be banned from this great country?

IF BLUECROSS reimbursed Memorial a fair amount they probably couldn't pay their CEO $6 million annually. Sad!

I JUST GOT health insurance. Anything I've ever scratched, sneezed or complained about is now pre-existing for a year. C'mon, health-care reform.

OUTLAW BICYCLES on the W Road! If those foolhardy cyclists want to risk their lives, ride somewhere that doesn't endanger the lives of automobile drivers.

ARE THE UT football games going to be shown on the Food Network? The schedule is such a cupcake!

Do you know that the debt has been increasing for years before Obama was elected to any office, let alone President? You had a chance to fix it long ago.

But money is speech. The court has spoken.

..

Maybe you'd e more comfortable with one from the sixties or fifties, or forties?

..

Easily, those non-believers are a threat, saying no to their Christian theocracy that would save the country. Dominionists know what they want. And how dare we stranbd up to their beliefs, that' s just intolerance.

The Repubs have done such a thorough job of getting their constituency in panic mode over the deficit, I imagine that many people like you, ranter, probably have some sort of digital deficit ticker by your bed and you watch the debt spin out of control every second. But you know what the Repubs would be saying if McCain were president today instead of Obama? Just what Cheney said when Bush was president and he practically overnight turned a surplus into a deficit: "Deficits don't matter." And you would no doubt be ranting something to that effect instead of the rant you just posted. Does the term sheeple have any meaning for you?

Funny how the Repubs. are the ones putting their contituency in panic mode. My gosh, that's all we hear from the Left-loving media is panic, Old folk, the poor, children will be killed or badly damaged if conservatives are elected. As for the deficit, it is now okay with all left leaners that a leftist President is spending us out the wazoo. It doesn't matter that he has outspent so many others and it has brought no real improvement to the American economy. It's just he's...Progressive, Leftist, a Democrat! That's all that matters. Yeah right, when it's all said and done re-elected or not, these 4 or 8 years of Obamadrama will be seen as some really dark days in the history of the United States. But by the time that is realized another Administration will be in office and will be blamed for what occurred before them. When has that ever occurred? Oh yeah, it happened with G. W. Bush as in.."they knew we were going to be attacked!" So let's sit back and enjoy the scenic ride we are on right up until we make a left turn off the economic cliff. Then, where will we be? By the way, anyone who thinks I think the Repubs. are THE answer, guess again. We LACK TRUE STRONG LEADERSHIP in Washington that will make a good difference for the nation. That will not change if we elect a different President. But I almost shudder to think what may happen if we don't.

Livn4life, it's funny, you must have missed the last week where it was Republicans making that argument about Medicare. What's worse about it is that the claim was a fraud.

You must also have missed how most of the opposition to balancing the budget is coming from Republicans who will do nothing about the deficit if it involves raising taxes or cutting defense spending. Did you know most of the Obama stimulus was tax cuts? You'd never notice from the way people talk about it.

You can try to pretend that you're an independent, but the choice of words you've consistently made is one-sided. If you're going to be non-partisan, try spreading around your ire and stop making excuses for Republican BS.

Otherwise, you're just not going to be credible.

Good points, bulbs. I've noticed that those who call themselves "independents," at least those who post here, are so far to the right they might as well be card-carrying teabaggers or libertarians. I think they call themselves independents because they like to think they are somehow more aloof and therefore more objective than the right or the left. But they are just as opinionated and head-strong as anybody, and their opinions, at least here on this forum, almost always veer far, far, far right, never even remotely to the left. Independent? What a joke.

Agreed. But the money spent on ads alone is even more insane. In the 2008 presidential campaign the two parties spent a total of $515 million...on media ads alone! Already Obama and Romney are outspending that race. If they continue on par, they will spend a combined $700 million on ads. Most people tune those ads out anyway and regard them as the lies and utter nonsense that they are. So the money spent on them is totally squandered. What a waste. Madness indeed.

It's a false attempt to gain credibility, by claiming a status they don't actually possess.

It's like the people who say they hate politicians, but exclusively focus on one side's failings.

I guess they don't realize how bad their tells really are.

As for Campaign Finance Reform, it's just not going to happen, there's no money in it!

Happy you are the pot calling the kettle black.

Nope, I don't pretend to be independent or nonpartisan.

I'm the kettle telling the pot to stop pretending it's not made of cast iron.

Thanks again, degage, your character comes shining through. Such flimsy attacks are as valid as the debunked claims to be an independent. Shams that show your own weakness.

Since BlueCross’ contract negotiations with Memorial hit the news, we’ve heard from a number of our members about the situation. We understand their concerns and appreciate their feedback, but in this case, the facts simply tell a different story.

For example: if BlueCross’ CEO and all of its board members worked without pay in 2011, it would have only decreased each member’s premium by about 21 cents per month. And it would’ve had a similarly small impact on contracted rates for medical care. We are a tax-paying not-for-profit company serving more than 3 million members, so it’s critical that we have a proven, experienced leadership team – which means competing for talent with our for-profit competitors.

It’s also important to know that 81 percent of BlueCross premiums in 2011 went to pay for direct medical costs (you can learn more about that here: http://bit.ly/c9pPne). Those costs are the primary reason for increasing premiums, which is why BlueCross works hard to negotiate reasonable medical reimbursement rates on behalf of our members.
