Volkswagen’s Chattanooga-made 2012 Passat finished No. 3 among midsize sedans in a new ranking of total quality.
Strategic Vision, a San Diego-based research group, put the Chevrolet Volt at the top of the list of midsize cars followed by the Subaru Legacy. The Nissan Altima was tied for 9th along with the Ford Fusion.
VW was No. 1 among all automakers in the study that measured how a model anticipates what customers want. The VW Golf, Eos and Tiquan topped their respective categories along with the Audi A4 and A8 sedans, according to Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Index.
Ford Motor Co. finished second overall among carmakers.
