Cloudland Canyon State park in Rising Fawn, Ga., celebrates September with a series of caving and hiking outings.

This two-hour adventure is geared to families, groups and adventure seekers (ages 6 and up) who want to get muddy, wet and experience a wild cave. Participants must be able to crawl, stoop, balance, climb and wade into cold water. $40 plus $5 parking.
When: 10 a.m. Saturday and Sept. 8, 15 and 29; 10 a.m. Wednesday and Sept. 19; 10 a.m. Sept. 9 and 23; 6 p.m. Sept. 21.
Guides will be along to educate participants (ages 12 and up) on geology and animals and ensure everyone's safety in and out of the cave but will take a back seat to allow free exploration of all the side passages. Tours are four hours and can travel more than 1 mile underground. $60 plus $5 parking.
When: 10 a.m. Sunday and Sept. 12 and 16.
This is considered the perfect cave tour for beginners (ages 6 and up) who are unsure of the underground environment. Guides will direct participants through a crawl space, direct their attention to cave formations and cave critters, and walk with them in an underground river. $30 plus $5 parking.
When: 2 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 8, 15 and 29.
This is a strenuous hike, but participants will go slow to enjoy the scenery on the 9-mile trail. Participants should bring water, lunch, sunscreen and a hiking stick if they have one. Meet at the G3 Building near the tennis courts. $25 plus $5 parking.
When: 10 a.m. Monday and Sept. 14.
Georgia Girl Guides will lead a day's end hike on the West Rim; includes the history and geology of the park as well as stops for scenic overlooks. Participants should bring water and a headlamp or flashlight. $10 plus $5 parking.
