A 33-year-old man from the Painter community in DeKalb County, Ala., has been arrested and charged on drug-related offenses, Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release.

Marcelo Pantoja-Villanuyeva was arrested at his home on County Road 629. Deputies found 24 pounds of packaged marijuana, pills, a .40-caliber pistol and $2,475 in cash at the home after executing a search warrant, according to the news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is in the DeKalb County Detention Center and is charged with trafficking in cannbis, possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Harris said the street value of the marijuana is about $50,000.

“This investigation was the result of several citizens’ complaints and undercover agents following up on leads,” he stated in the release. “This individual appears to be one of the major dealers in marijuana in DeKalb County. We are glad to get him off the street.”
