Signal Mountain quarterback Reese Phillips has been added to Tennessee's East-West high school all-star football game Saturday at Cookeville and also will be in the Tennessee-Kentucky all-star game.

Reese Phillips and Francisco Rodriguez are late additions to the Toyota Tennessee East-West all-star football game.

The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. EST kickoff Saturday at Tennessee Tech.

Phillips, the Signal Mountain quarterback who remains a University of Kentucky commitment, agreed to play in the game when Christian Academy of Knoxville quarterback Charlie High learned he needed shoulder surgery.

Rodriguez, an East Hamilton defensive tackle, was picked up when Howard's Brandon Walters was forced to pull out.

Signal Mountain coach Bill Price said Monday that the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Phillips -- whose plan to enroll at Kentucky in January is on hold for now -- also had been selected for the Tennessee-Kentucky Border Bowl. That game is scheduled for Jan. 12 at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

Other Chattanooga-area players in the Toyota game are running back Kelvin Wells and defensive linemen Kalluante Hammonds and Aaron Kimpson of McMinn County, Bradley Central offensive lineman Austin Sanders, Rhea County lineman/snapper Jacob Revis, Hixson receiver Allante Novene, Baylor linebacker Colton Jumper, Cleveland linebacker David Morgan and East Hamilton defensive back Anthony Knox.

Assistant coaches working on the East staff include Hixson's Jason Fitzgerald and Bradley's Damon Floyd.

Price roast Monday

A roast of Signal Mountain's Price is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the theater at Signal Mountain High, and Phillips is the organizer.

There is no admission fee, but Phillips said a $5 donation would be accepted. The money will go toward the debt remaining on the school's concession stand and restroom area that was added at the football field before the 2012 season.

TSSAA considers change

The Legislative Council of the TSSAA will meet Wednesday to consider four proposals, including one that would put public and private schools in the same division for the regular season and then separate the two completely for the playoffs. Nonscholarship private schools such as Boyd-Buchanan, Chattanooga Christian, Grace Academy, Notre Dame and Silverdale Baptist would be forced out of the Division I postseason and into Division II playoffs.

There also are proposals regarding co-op programs, changing initial competition dates from Monday to Saturday in all sports but football and the eligibility of boarding school students who transfer from one to another without parents making any kind of move.

Cleveland duals Saturday

Some of three states' strongest wrestling teams will be at Cleveland High on Saturday for the Blue Raiders' annual duals tournament. It will begin at 9 a.m. and culminate with the championship meet at about 6 p.m.

Teams taking part are Baylor, Blackman, Christian Brothers, Cleveland, Father Ryan, Maryville Heritage, McCallie and Soddy-Daisy from Tennessee; Cartersville, Heritage, LaFayette, Parkview (Lilburn) and Rome from Georgia and Alabama schools Thompson and James Clemons.

Teams willl wrestle at least three matches in pool competition before advancing to a series of inter-pool matches and semifinals.

Baylor wins at LaFayette

Baylor's Red Raiders improved to 7-0 Saturday, winning four meets to reach the championship match, where they beat LaFayette 54-13. The Red Raiders previously defeated Rockmart 67-9, Cass 47-18, Northwest Whitfield 69-9 and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 54-13.
