Christmas parades in the greater Chattanooga area this weekend

• BENTON, TENN. The annual Polk County Christmas Parade will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The theme is "The Wonder of Christmas Morning." 423-338-5040.

• CROSSVILLE, TENN. This year's theme is "Christmas Dreams." Start time is 4:30 p.m. CST Saturday, Dec. 8, through the downtown district. 931-484-6133.

• ENGLEWOOD, TENN. The Community Action Group of Englewood will host the fourth annual Englewood Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in downtown Englewood.

• ETOWAH, TENN. Entries will travel through the historic downtown district in Etowah's annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 6. 423-263-2228.

• DALTON, GA. The Dalton Noon Lions Club resumes sponsorship of the Dalton Christmas parade again this year. The theme is "A Downtown Christmas." Awards will be given for floats with the best use of theme, most enthusiastic and most creative. The route follows Waugh Street to Jones Street, right on Hamilton Street, right on West Morris Street, right on Thornton Avenue and left on Crawford, ending at Harmon Field (floats and passengers) or First Baptist Church (walkers). 706-270-8681.

• DUNLAP, TENN. The city will offer the winter counterpart to its big Fourth of July parade with a Christmas parade through town at 4:30 p.m. CST Saturday, Dec. 8. Lineup starts at the Middle School. 423-949-7608.

• LAFAYETTE, GA. This year's Christmas parade will start at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, with the theme "A Christmas Wonderland." The route will begin at 512 S. Main St. (Ace Hardware) and travel north through the square, turning left onto Margaret Street to the parking lot of the LaFayette Sixth Grade Academy to disband. The Amazing Christmas Light Show, a lighting extravaganza synchronized to holiday music, follows in Joe Stock Park. 706-639-0403.

• RINGGOLD, GA. The celebration starts with a parade at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Chorus performances by local groups and photos with Santa will follow at the Ringgold Depot. Merchants will be open late for shoppers. 706-935-3061.
