Georgia man arrested after armed robbery, manhunt

REDAN, Ga. — Police in DeKalb County say they’re looking for a second suspect in an armed robbery that led to a shootout with police.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the incident began when a man robbed a dollar store at gunpoint around 9:45 a.m. Friday.

A suspect shot at responding officers and police returned fire. Mekka Parish, a police department spokeswoman, says a second suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The suspect who shot at police kicked in the rear door of a house. He surrendered without incident around 12:45 p.m. after police surrounded the building.

Authorities say no officers were injured and it was unclear whether the suspect was wounded. Police are not releasing the man’s identity.

Three nearby schools were locked down during the manhunt.
