Chattanooga planners today agreed to forward a proposed $100 million Hixson development to the City Council.
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission turned back a staff recommendation to defer the project for 30 days.
Planning Commission member Don Moon said it was "time to vote this up or down."
Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield said the planned Chattanooga Village project ought to go before the City Council.
"When it gets to the City Council, it will be dissected and debated," the mayor said.
About three dozen people showed up at the meeting seeking a deferral of the project so that there could be more discussion in front of the planning commission.
The developer, Duane Horton, is planning to put apartments, office and retail space on the 190-acre tract off state highway 153 near Boy Scout Road.
