Arturo Rocha's McCallie soccer career was filled with goals, assists and victories. Now he can add even more honors to his resume.

The current Lee University freshman was named an All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently, becoming the first Blue Tornado to be named an All-American since Ben Stafford was named to the Parade All-American team in 1997.

Rocha finished his career with 50 goals and 46 assists. He had 18 goals and 19 assists in the 2012 season, one in which the Blue Tornado were ranked first and advanced to the Division II-AA state semifinals.

He was a four-time Times Free Press Best of Preps member and was named to the Coaches' All-State team and Tennessee Sports Writers' Association all-state team a combined eight times.

In addition, he was the NSCAA Player of the Year in Tennessee and was a two-time All-South member.

"This was one of Arturo's goal when he came to McCallie," head Coach Tony Meyers said. "He has worked hard on his game to become a better player, and it has paid off for him. Arturo's ability to finalize in the final third and his vision to find teammates were true gifts to coach."

All of the All-Americans will be honored with a luncheon at the National NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis in January.
