Get your holiday on in Etowah

The Gem Players, the theatrical troupe at the Gem Theater in Etowah, Tenn., will host a different company of players on Saturday, Dec. 15.

For Etowah's "Merry TubaChristmas" presentation, musicians will be featured on tubas, euphoniums, baritones and sousaphones in a free concert at 7 p.m.

Don Bindrim is the conductor. Treavor Johnson is guest conductor. An audience sing-along will add to the festivities.

Conceived in 1974 as a tribute to late artist/teacher William J. Bell, TubaChristmas concerts take place around the world to show the versatility of these instruments.

Typically, the players have a brief rehearsal before presenting a show. Musicians interested in Saturday's program may email EtowahTubaChristmas@gmail.com.

To reach the Gem Theater from Chattanooga, take I-75 North to Exit 49 and go right on Highway 30 for about 13 miles. Turn right on Highway 411 and continue about 1.25 miles. The theater is on the right at the corner of Seventh Street. For more details, call 423-920-4700 or go to www.gemplayers.com.
