Thirty-two-year-old Kevin Frady was taken to a local hospital today after experiencing burns on his back after apparently turning into a camp fire while sleeping, a news release said.
East Ridge Public Safety officials said fire, rescue and police officials had been dispatched to Camp Jordan Park today after a report of a man having been burned.
Frady said he had been sleeping in his camp in woods located near the Brainerd levee when he awakened with his back on fire.
Frady said he had jumped into a creek to extinguish the flames. He then walked to the park where a woman called for help.
Officials said Frady sustained burns on about 18 percent of his back.
