The giant French bulldog at Choo Choo Dog Camp, now known only as "The Master," will receive his official moniker Saturday.

The Name the Choo Choo Pooch contest has generated many entries, according to business owner Liz Fortanier, especially at the CCDC booth during the recent Mainx24 festival.

"We're thrilled about these entries, because all proceeds from the $1 entry fee per name will benefit DoGood Chattanooga, Wally's Friends and the Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga," she said.

The contest continues through 9 a.m. Friday.

Anyone who wants to participate will pay $1 to contribute each suggested male or nongender-specific name.

There is no limit on the number of names you can contribute. Names can be entered online using PayPal at www.choochoodogcamp.com and at Choo Choo Dog Camp, 25 W. 20th St.

Final judging of the name will be done by Karen Roach from DoGood Chattanooga, Eileen Price from Wally's Friends, Guy Bilyeu from the Humane Educational Society, County Commissioner Joe Graham and City Councilman Andrae McGary.

The winner will be presented with a $100 check at the open house, which is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. It will feature hot cider, holiday nibbles and tours of the facility, Fortanier said. The winner's name will be announced at 4 p.m.

"We're also asking those who can to bring a warm blanket or bedding to donate to the dogs in the Humane Society's shelter, so they can enjoy a warm Christmas and winter," she said.
