Less than 48 hours after firing city attorney John Anderson, East Ridge City Council members called a special meeting to appoint an interim replacement, according to City Manager Tim Gobble.

The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in City Hall to hire the new city attorney, who will serve for 90 days. The meeting is open to the public.

At least two attorneys are being considered for the spot, councilman Marc Gravitt said. Mayor Brent Lambert said former East Ridge city attorney Chris Helton is one of them.

Helton was Anderson's predecessor as city attorney.
