First Volunteer adds banker

First Volunteer Bank has added Robyn L. Thomas as senior vice president and commercial relationship manager in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area.

"Robyn is a well known, seasoned banker in this market and a great addition to our team of relationship managers," said Ron Jones, executive vice president of commercial banking for First Volunteer.

Thomas brings more than 26 years of banking to her new role. Within her banking experience she has implemented a new wealth management department for a community bank, served as director of private client services, and as executive vice president and commercial bank president.


Daffron named at BlueCross

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has hired Vanessa Daffron as director of digital marketing.

Daffron will be responsible for directing all digital marketing and strategies for BlueCross, including the member web portal, bcbst.com, and content management for BlueCross' digital marketing efforts.

"She has more than 12 years of experience specifically with digital marketing and her strengths will be a great asset as we strive to grow our online retail presence," said Carla Raynor, vice president of strategic marketing for BlueCross.

Daffron most recently worked at Hilton Worldwide as its senior manager and brand liaison for global e-commerce services.


3 join ArtsBuild

ArtsBuild, previously known as Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga, has announced three new staff positions.

Julie Jackson, director of resource development and communications, joined ArtsBuild in September. Jackson oversees all fundraising development initiatives including the annual campaign.

Caroline Bulman joined ArtsBuild in January 2008 and has assumed the position of resource development and communications manager

Jessica Wright joined ArtsBuild in November. She provides administrative support for ArtsBuild's staff.


TennCarva buys Southern Sales

Tencarva Machinery Co., a Greensboro, N.C.-based distributor of pumping equipment with a branch office in Chattanooga, has acquired the assets of Southern Sales Co., Inc., of Nashville. Southern Sales has been in business since 1923 and in its current form since 1968. Joining Tencarva will be Bill Allen, as vice president of municipal sales, and Ed Guffee, as general manager of the Southern Sales Division. All of the 26 employees of Southern Sales have been offered positions with Tencarva.

"We expect to take advantage of Bill's and Ed's expertise in the municipal market to grow our business in all regions," said Rod Lee, president of Tencarva.
