Jim Brexler, former CEO of Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga, will become president and CEO of Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown, Pa., according to a news release on the hospital’s website.
Brexler will succeed Richard A. Reif, who is retiring after 23 years at Doylestown Hospital.
“Health care is a complex and rapidly changing industry, and Jim has demonstrated his ability to manage every situation and opportunity throughout his career,” Dr. Bruce M. Derrick , president of the medical staff at Doylestown, said. “We chose Jim because we believe his knowledge and leadership skills will guide us through the challenges ahead, preserving our independence and maintaining our focus on patient satisfaction and quality improvement.”
Brexler has been a consultant at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
In November 2011 Erlanger announced Brexler’s retirement. In December 2011 Erlanger’s trustees voted against a $728,000 severance package for Brexler, but a month later reversed themselves by approving it.
