24-year-old from Soddy-Daisy killed in single-car crash

A 24-year-old Soddy-Daisy man was killed early this morning in a single-car crash in Hamilton County.

Garren Wayne Flippo was driving on Grasshopper Road when for unknown reasons he swerved off the road around 12:15 a.m. and hit an embankment, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said.

When the car hit the embankment it turned over and then landed on its side.

Emergency workers had to extradite Flippo from the car and, despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the crash site, Atkinson said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
