Nineteen teams compete in 'Noog Amazing Race

What: Penny Productions sponsored two editions of The 'Noog Amazing Race' on Dec. 15 in Coolidge Park. The Dec. 16 race was rained out, and has been rescheduled for Jan. 25, according to race director Heather Penny.

Benefits: Operation Secret Santa, which will provide Christmas for families in need.

Winners: Team T-2 won the Dec. 15 competitive edition, running the course in 80 minutes. The Gators won the afternoon family edition, finishing in 39 minutes.

Teams were met at the finish line by Atlanta two-sport professional athlete Brian Jordan. Jordan is a retired MLB outfielder who played for the Braves and was an NFL safety for the Falcons.

Unum fills trailer with toys for Partnership

What: Employees of Unum arrived at the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults offices recently with a tractor-trailer filled with Christmas gifts. They visited five Partnership locations to hand-deliver gifts to agency staff.

Benefits: This is the 13th year the insurance company has adopted hundreds of Partnership clients for Christmas, fulfilling wishes of children, homebound elderly, homeless women and families. All gifts are purchased by Unum employees, who work in teams to select wish lists, shop for items, wrap and deliver gifts.

About Partnership: The nonprofit assists people to through counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and education programs. In 2011, more than 75,000 people in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama were helped.

CraftWorks supports Kids on the Block

What: CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries Inc. raised its largest donation to date, $173,000, from proceeds of the 18th annual Southern Brewers Festival. More than 11,000 people attended the festival, according to a CraftWorks news release.

Benefits: Chattanooga Kids on the Block. This is the seventh consecutive year that the festival has benefited Kids on the Block, an educational program that uses life-size puppets to teach children and adults about social issues, safety and healthy living.

Santa comes early for Salvation Army

What: Two local companies and one church donated 316 bicycles to the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.

Southern Champion Tray donated 130 bicycles, Dynamic Church of East Brainerd collected 150 bikes through a 24-hour bike drive. The Insurity Group on Lee Highway added 36 bicycles.

Benefits: The Chattanooga chapter of the Salvation Army registered 4,763 angels (individuals in need of assistance) this year.
