BAPTIST MINISTER Mike Huckabee [president want-to-be] is an idiot for blaming the massacre of 20 children on lack of prayer in schools.

DON’T BAN the magazines. Ban the assault weapons the magazines go in. Stop the insanity.

MORE MASS murders than any other country. Weaker gun-control laws than any other country. Thanks, Republicans, and your NRA lobbyists.

WHEN WILL the Republicans realize that “Grumpy Old Men” is the title of a movie, not the key to winning elections?

THE GENERAL MOTORS bailout will cost the taxpayers a minimum of $12 billion. Way to protect the taxpayers, Obama!

EAST RIDGE AND Red Bank: The best arguments for bringing metro government to Hamilton County.

I FELT A slight tinge of schadenfreude when East Ridge fired John Anderson, and I live in Atlanta.

MAYOR LITTLEFIELD and developer Duane Horton are masters of getting the community members riled, then setting them up to be the bad guys. Shameful!

HEY, DO YOU notice how helpful it is when other motorists signal their turns? Then why are you not using your turn signals!

SOFA KING Juicy Burgers should thank the reporter whose negative story created such positive response.

NOT SURE you will get the surgeon general’s thumbs up on your article advising folks on selecting the right pipe tobacco.

Yeah like that "ban on assault weapons" in Connecticut helped a lot when a person who is not in the right state of mind gets access to them. How dare anyone say we have "weaker gun control laws than any other country?" You absolutely WRONG! It is more like WEAKER ENFORCEMENT of the Gun and other laws on the books. And for that we have as many leftist Democrat perspectives to blame as Republicans. But here we go again, make more laws to make it look like Congress and the White House are doing something significant. What a joke. How about truly monitoring problem people who are enabled to get weapons? Oh shucks, we can't do that in this Politically Correct environment. So we just let them make more laws, limit the law-abiding public while the criminals laugh and keep on their stuff. No more new laws please, just hold people to the ones already in existence. It might also be helpful to not sensationalize the people who commit these atrocities. But then, there's that freedom of press thing. I get that.

Why don't you folks who want to ban firearms ask anyone from Mexico how that is working out for them. Armed cartels with illigal firearms murdering anyone who gets in the way of the drug smuggling and a few of their relatives for a little extra intimidation....Be careful what you wish for!

A mentally ill person can obtain a gun legally, L4L. Only dealers must do background checks. I could have personally sold that young man a gun. Legally. Our gun laws are full of holes, put there in the name of the 2nd amendment and insisted on by those who in their paranoia think they must protect themselves from their government. There were a lot of failures that led to this tragedy-lax gun laws were one part. There was no law that said that this mother could not teach her son how to shoot, nor keep the guns secured from his accessing them (he was 20). She however paid the ultimate price so even if she broke any laws she will never be held accountable.

Mental illness and our inability to intervene before someone does harm is also a big part. When we ruled that people could not be institutionalized against their will, state hospitals were closed. Now there are few facilities, short of county jails, where those who cannot function without help are held, and they must commit some crime to get in.

Finally, no where in this country is there a reason for the general public to own high capacity semiautomatic weapons. Hunting rifles, handguns, etc. are all reasonable. But when a deranged person can kill dozens before an armed officer or bystander can react, something is clearly wrong.

Huckabee is the worst type of huckster...He gives Baptists a bad name. Surely, not all Baptist believers agree with his wide array of anti-intellectual, anti-scientific, crackpot comments.

Yes, if only we could return to those great Bible Days of Belief, when serpents talked, when bushes burned, when demons, witches, and devils caused disease, when witches were burned, wives beaten, when slavery was commanded by God, women raped by God's followers, disobedient children killed, innocent men, women, and children massacred by a loving Jehovah's people, when water turned to wine, and the sun stopped in it's path, when stoning was carried out by God's chosen stoners, when plagues, famine, and death angels killed unbelievers.

Those were the good, old days indeed. It's wonderful to see Huckabee, Graham, Dobson, and other wacky-loos call for those glory days of love to return.

We know the gun manufacturers will get around any ban on types of firearms by redesigning to sell product and many lawmakers will not have the stomach to take on the NRA. Therefore, let's ban fragmentation ammo sales to everyone except SWAT & military. Since there are tons of fragmentation ammo already out among the public, make it a felony to use fragmentation ammo when used in commision of a crime & a misdomeaner if used in self defense or protection of one's home. I also have yet to hear a good argument in defense of clips of over 10 bullets. Also, lets hear from parents of young people with serious mental health issues about changing laws to protect them & get their children the help they need. See story on-line by Liza Long of Boise, Idaho entitled "I am Adam Lanza's mother".

Yes, anyone knows that school vending machines with condoms have done much more good than Christian Prayer and teachings. Condoms have a high degree of success with decreasing violence. Oh, and we must not forget the faith of evolutionary theory belief vs creation. Now that the children/students know they are monkeys...they don't have to have morals! kwo

Tinydancer, you need to read up on bullet performance before you start banning stuff!

A non fragmenting bullet does not expand on impact,it penetrates ,a lot! depending on the caliber as many as 6 or 7 folks, goes thru wall and floors! A fragmenting or rapid expanding bullet on the other hand is designed to expend all its energy in the initial impact !the result of this is 1 person wounded instead of 5 or 6 or more! example: if you shoot your husband w/a F.M.J. 30/06 round the bullet may travel a block down the street and kill your neighbor!!

I agree if you really look at the truth, from the moment we as a society agreed to take God out of our public schools there began an assault around every part of the country against our children. The truth seems to be so easy to understand and yet so many run from it everyday. It's no wonder folks run from the church and won't except any advice from those who claim to be a man or women of God. Why is there so many different church names if all serve the one truth? Why indeed. perhaps 90% should close and join the other 10% and we as a society could get things done. What does this have to do with kids, guns & schools? It has every thing to do with everything. God our Lord Jesus the Christ is all things to all men. There is not room enough to say all that needs to be said on this matter. The fact that men screw up truth does not change the fact that God created this country, through the founding fathers led by the Holy Spirit. However I know many of you just reading this begin thinking negative due to the mention of the one & true God. His (God) whole plan was is and forever shall be that we all love one another and above all else love Him! Simple! If we were doing this simple act throughout our lives as a society. Putting God first in all things. We would not have taken His divine protection out of public schools , hence there would not be place for our enemy (devil) in our schools influencing (possessing) some students. Hence no shootings. Better trained kids who soon become adults and our new society. How can we train children when the true leaders of the free world can't even agree on the simple truth? One city in any state in most counties has a ridiculous amount of churches on every other block. Most are led by someone with a teaching ability not someone called by God to lead His church & people. Denominations are not even in the bible but are man made. Pay no tax, and don't have to work a job for a co. seems to be quite a motive to start a church. It's no wonder we have such hard time reaching the intelligent when 30 to 200 people calling themselves Christians can't get along or join together with the other 500 -30 to 200 grouped so called Christians. And you wonder why our kids are dying and struggling in so many areas? We as citizens have checked out, fallen asleep if you will. It is time to wake up! Put God on top where He belongs. In schools yes, but also in our daily lives and especially our gov't. We don't even have the understanding of separation of church and state according to the origin. It is time again for all to humble themselves and allow the truth to lead this country that He created. Jesus is the truth, the way, and our light (illumination) our ability to see. Lets join together through love and watch our country thrive and be powerfully protected like never before.
