Three taken to Chattanooga hospital after Christmas morning crash

A crash in the northbound lane of I-75 at the Ringgold Road overpass Tuesday morning led to three people being taken to a local hospital.

The driver of a Ford pickup entering the interstate lost control and collided with the center wall before a box truck became involved and entangled with the pickup below the overpass, East Ridge Fire/Rescue and Police reported.

The driver of the pickup was extricated from the vehicle after being entrapped, East Ridge Public Safety said in a news release.

The pickup’s driver as well as the driver and a passenger in the box truck were taken to Erlanger Medical Center by Memorial EMS, the release said.

Two outside lanes on I-75 were closed while the rescue efforts were carried out.
