Chattanooga police have arrested a man they say stole a woman's car keys and attempted to steal her car out of the Brainerd Walmart parking lot.
An 18-year-old woman told police she was walking toward the Walmart at 490 Greenway View Drive around 9 a.m. Thursday when a man ran up to her and grabbed her keys, said police spokesman Nathan Hartwig.
Witnesses claim Tyrone Heard, 31, then ran to the woman's car and tried to get in, said Hartwig.
The woman and several others ran up to Heard and detained him until officers arrived, Hartwig said.
Heard is at the Hamilton County Jail on charges of robbery and attempted theft over $10,000, said Hartwig.
