West Georgia University's haul of Calhoun football players grew by one when all-state linebacker Hunter Knight joined fellow linebacker Gabe Freeman, offensive lineman Tyler King and receivers Ben Lamb and Chase Rierson in signing with the Carrollton school.
Knight, a three-year starter, had 139 tackles, 10 sacks and 13 other tackles for loss for the 15-0 Class AA champions in 2011.
Also signing last week were kicker Adam Griffith (Alabama), defensive lineman Reed Allen, linebacker/long snapper Trent Frix (Air Force) and linebacker Alex Kirby (UTC).
"Hunter is a special player who has great instincts and a desire to be the best," Calhoun coach Hal Lamb said. "We're very proud of all the players from this class. They are a very special group."
