Obama administration wrong to 'negotiate' with Taliban

It is inconceivable that the Obama administration thinks there can be negotiations with Afghanistan's radical Muslim Taliban.

The president cannot have forgotten that the brutal Taliban regime sheltered Osama bin Laden and other leaders of the al-Qaida terrorist network -- the network that slaughtered nearly 3,000 Americans on our own soil on Sept. 11, 2001.

Yet Taliban leaders have met with U.S. officials to discuss "trust-building measures," The New York Times reported recently. And a handover of five Taliban leaders now held at a U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is being considered. The Obama administration previously deemed the men too dangerous to be permitted to leave. Have they suddenly become peace-loving?

There is no evidence, moreover, that the Taliban in general have turned over a new leaf and are now suddenly amenable to good-faith negotiations as the United States' military involvement in Afghanistan continues.

To the contrary, the Taliban are noted for their vicious rule of Afghanistan during the years prior to the 9/11 attacks, and there has been little sign of moderation since.

There is no easy way out of the war in Afghanistan. But we assuredly will not negotiate our way to peace with groups such as the Taliban.

Negotiations from US presidents with our war enemies is nothing new in our generation: Japan, Korea, Vietnam and the first Iraq war. Based on history, with the advice of nucanuck we may have come out ahead.

There is a difference in negotiating with a country and it's leaders and a group of radical terrorist hell bent on killing as many Americans it can. There is only one way to deal with these people and it is a bullet but this just another spineless move this joke of a president is making. It is no wonder the leaders of most other nations call him weak.

Hey Tipper-just so you know I have twice as a matter of fact, but I am willing to bet you have never served this country. There is no way to negotiate with a group that has no true leadership and believes by killing Americans will get them closer to their God. But all of you country bumpkins know best I guess.
