Chattanooga husband tells authorities he killed his wife, turns himself in to jail

Chattanooga police have identified a woman they believe was shot to death Monday by her husband.

Robert Hardnett, 50, walked into Hamilton County Jail at 8:40 p.m. Monday and said he killed his wife, 34-year-old Elizabeth Hardnett, according to a statement from police spokesman Nathan Hartwig. Hardnett said her body could be found inside a building at 1907 Daisy St.

Inside the business, they found her dead with multiple gunshot wounds, Hartwig said.

Hardnett is being held at the jail with a charge of criminal homicide on a $200,000 bond. He had no prior criminal history, according to local court records.

His next court appearance is set for Feb. 21 in Sessions Court.
