Does GOP really want Romney?

Mitt Romney favored letting GM and Chrysler go bankrupt, saying with federal loans, "you can kiss the automobile industry good-bye."

The kiss with loans that followed was a "hello," saving 2 million auto workers' and suppliers' jobs; and with successful reorganization and management, producing quality products and profitable sales, gaining such a good share of the market that GM leads the field in the entire world, yet Romney is unenthusiastic with the results.

Claims that Romney's Bain was a "vulture" may be an exaggeration; but when GS Technologies needed updating, 750 lost their jobs, employees were denied severance pay, promised health insurance was lost and pensions cut $400 a month. Bain, with corporate headquarters in the Cayman islands for tax avoidance, profited on the deal, receiving $12 million on its $8 million investment and $4.5 million in consulting fees. Romney said he liked being able to fire people.

When running for governor of Massachusetts, every issue he supported was labeled either centrist or liberal, and that is how he was elected. Considering Romney flip-flopped on every major issue, except when he was wrong to begin with, do Republicans really want him for their candidate?

'Small amount' is what kills us

I find it interesting when liberals try to defend their position as to why we shouldn't have voter ID or cutting unnecessary government spending by saying, "but it's only___" (fill in the blank, after all, it's just a small amount.)

The real question to ask is, why should we tolerate our elected officials to behave in such destructive manner?

When you get on an airplane, do you expect anything other than a perfect landing?

When you get money from an ATM, do you do so expecting less than 100 percent accuracy?

Do you expect your household to live within a budget, and if you don't have the money for a vacation, do you go to the bank and make a loan because, after all, it's just a small amount.

The answer is (or should be) of course not. So why do we think it is acceptable to allow even just one person to vote fraudulently or to provide someone with a six-figure government grant to study a shrimp on a treadmill?

We just borrowed another trillion from Communist China, but then compared to what the numbers will be by the end of this decade, "it's only a small amount."

Check web sites for Fox distortions

On Thursday (Feb. 9), a letter was submitted to the Times Free Press asking someone for proof that Fox News could be false and misleading. I would like to direct that person to the numerous Internet web sites listed under Fox News distortions for not one case, but many examples.
